Tuesday, January 9, 2024 will be an eLearning Day for the School District of Pickens County due to concerns with hazardous conditions caused by heavy rainfall and high wind gusts. Students will not attend school in-person.
In an effort to provide parents with as much notice as possible, we are making this decision today for eLearning on Tuesday.
This decision was made after the SDPC Weather Team consulted with Emergency Management regarding the forecast for tomorrow. The National Weather Service is predicting strong, sustained winds and excessively heavy rain.
eLearning Days allow students to make up days missed due to inclement weather or other emergencies by completing a set of assignments within 5 school days (January 16). For students in grades K5-12, most or all of these assignments can be completed on the student's school-issued Chromebook. Students in earlier grades may also be given a list of traditional assignments to complete within five days. Your child's teacher will communicate the details of the assignments for your child's class. Students who do not complete their assignments will be counted as absent for the day. This will be eLearning Day #1 for the 2023-24 school year.
Thank you for your patience as we navigate this weather situation. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
