🚀 Mae Jemison – The first African American woman to travel to space! Mae's groundbreaking achievements in science and space exploration have paved the way for future generations of women and people of color to reach for the stars. 🌌✨

This week is National School Counselors Week, and East End wants to take a moment to honor Dr. Freitag for all of his hard work and dedication. Dr. Freitag goes above and beyond to create the best learning environment for our students. He organizes our annual school supplies drive, weekend backpack food program, and the Student of the Month initiative. He also supports our students with valuable guidance lessons in the classroom and helps ensure our safety during arrival and dismissal every day. We are incredibly thankful for all that Dr. Freitag does for our school community!

Today’s focus is on two remarkable figures: Amanda Gorman, an inspiring author and poet, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a courageous minister and Civil Rights Activist. Today, we kicked off a special video series to honor African American History Month! Every classroom and activity teacher has decorated a door to celebrate an influential African American.
Our leadership team started things off by sharing the history behind African American History Month and highlighting the incredible Dr. Patricia Bath.

Today, we sent home a flyer for our East End Fundraiser, which will help us build an outdoor classroom and purchase additional items for our school. We have two ways for students to participate in selling items for the fundraiser:
1. Paper Form: You can complete the order form and return it with a check made out to East End.
2. Online Sales: You can also sell items electronically by visiting this link to set up your account so that sales will be credited to your child: https://1cookie.com/groups/east-end-elementary-school/register. Once you have created this link you will have an account that you can share with friends and family members to purchase items electronically.
