  • Martin Luther King, Jr. took hold of the freedoms promised by our nation’s founding fathers and used his constitutional rights when he made his speech and developed his dream. By taking action on his dream, Dr. King was able to change the future of men, women, and children, and impact so many aspects of our current society. It is this spirit that inspired us to continue the theme for the 2018 MLK Dream Scholarships.To change the future of Upstate youth, the Urban League needs your help identifying students interested in applying for the annual MLK scholarships, a major initiative since the inaugural year in 2006. Twelve scholarships will be awarded totaling over $190,000 and presented at the MLK Dreams in Action Program on January 13, 2018. All scholarships entries will be evaluated for selection based on transcripts, letters of recommendation, autobiography statement, GPA, financial need and demonstrated leadership and community service.

  •  Attention ALL Dual Enrollment Students:
  • The SDPC is pleased to announce that students who are enrolled in dual enrollment courses on the 45th day are allocated funding from the state of SC to help offset the costs associated with the course(s).  The SDPC has developed a system that allows parents and students to receive reimbursement for the costs of college textbooks in their dual enrollment courses.  Families may receive up to $300.00 in reimbursement for dual enrollment textbook purchases per school year.

    In order to receive the reimbursement, please complete the Check Requistion Dual Credit Funding form attached to the Class of 2018 Schoology page or see Mrs. Cudd in the Guidance Office for these forms.  The request and receipts should be submitted to Pickens High School.  Once the school receives your request, a school official will document your enrollment in the course by attaching a copy of your schedule and forward all information to SDPC's Financial Services Department for processing and payment. 

  • The Hampton Wildlife Fund is pleased to offer 4 scholarships to SC students.  The Harry Hampton, Wallace Pate, David Clline and James Thomason scholarships are now available online for download at www.hamptonwildlifefund.org/scholarship.html  .  Please visit this website to determine if you are eligible for one of these scholarships.  The deadline to apply is January 31, 2018

     Kittie Fairey Educational Fund is a scholarship opportunity for deserving students who meet an educational and financial criteria.  Seniors must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, have a combined SAT score of 1100 ( 26 ACT), have a household gross income NOT exceeding $40,000 and plna to attend a four-year college in South Carolina for Fall 2018.  Student can apply online at:     www.csascholars.org   .  Applications are due by January 15, 2018.  See Mrs. Cudd if you have questions.

Attention Future Educators:  Any senior interested in majoring in Education is encouraged to apply for the Teaching Fellows Scholarship.  Applications can be found online at www.cerra.org under the Teaching Fellows tab at the top.  Applications are due December 1, 2017.  There are several steps to this application so please do not wait to apply.  You do NOT have to be a Teacher Cadet to apply.

IGP Conferences:
Mrs. Cudd is in the process of scheduling IGP ( Individual Graduation Plan) conferences with each of her seniors.  Invitations will go out to students during their Government and Economics classes.  If you would like to schedule an IGP meeting at a different time, please contact Mrs. Cudd at 864-397-3618 to schedule a meeting for you and your child.

QuestBridge Scholarships
The QuestBridge National College Match connects outstanding low-income high school seniors with full four-year scholarships to the nations' leading colleges.  Who is eligible to apply?
1.  Top 5-10% of class
2.  SAT score > 1240 (CR & M)  or ACT > 28
3.  Come from households earning less than $65,000
4.  Be eligible for free or reduced lunch at school.
5.  Be part of the first generation in their family to attend college.

Bridge to Clemson

The Bridge Program, in conjunction with Tri County Technical College, is a cooperative admission program designed to assist a select group of students who cannot be offered regular admission to Clemson but who wish to have a freshman year experience with the distinct Clemson flavor. Students enroll in a transferable curriculum at TCTC for the entire freshmen year and while taking these classes will have access to a number of services and programs on the Clemson campus. They are assured a seamless transition to Clemson the following year if they meet the academic expections of the program.
