Seniors planning to major in a human services field such as psychology, sociology, medicine, criminal justice, education or theology are encouraged to apply for the Charlie Hagood scholarship. Students must plan to attend a four-year college or university immediately after high school. This $2000 scholarship is payable to the recipient as $1000 for first frehman semester and $1000 for second freshman semester upon submission of properly executed requests for payment. The Tywanza Sanders Legacy Foundation scholaship honors Tywanza Sanders who was a victim of the Emanuel Church shooting in 2015. His parents started the foundation to honor his legacy and commitment to education. This is a one-time $5000 scholarship that can be used for tuition, books, room and board. Students must be a high school senior, be attending a 4-year college or university, have a 2.5 GPA or higher, demonstrate financial need, submit a short written or video essay and submit application and all supporting documents by June 9, 2017. The George Rogers Foundation scholarship is intended for seniors who will be 1st generation college students. Students must also have a 2.5 or greater GPA and be able to provide 2 letters of recommendation and a letter from parents affirming that you will be the first person in the family to attend a four-year college or university. Attention Senior Girls: The Beverly M. Smith Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the Pickens Area Women's Association is now accepting applications. Victory in Virtue Scholarship application is now available on the scholarship bulletin board. This scholarship sponsored by the YMCA and funded by the Victory in Virtue Foundation. Students applying for this scholarship must be attending a 4-year college or university in the Fall 2017. The SC State Fair scholarship is available for senior planning to attend a public or private college, university , or technical college in the state of South Carolina. The SC State Fair will award (50) $6000 scholarships to students across the state to be paid at the rate of $1500 per year over a four year period. The Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is now accepting applications for the 2017 Dr. John Harden Scholarship. One scholarship is awarded each year to a student of the Pickens/Liberty community who plan to enter the medical profession. The recipient of the scholarship will receive $1,000 paid directly to the school of their choice. The Pickens High School FCA will be awarding a one-time $1000 scholarship to a senior who actively and enthusiastically attends FCA meetings on a regular basis. The Pickens Rotary Scholarship application is now available on the scholarship bulletin board. This scholarship sponsored by the Pickens Rotary Club stresses service to school and community. Applications are due to Mrs. Cudd in the Guidance Office no later than Friday, April 24, 2017. The scholarship recipient will be announced on Award's Night currently scheduled for Monday, May 15 at 6:00 in the auditorium.
The Bobby Chapman Scholarship is to be awarded to a student who is a graduate, or soon will be, of a secondary school in the SE United States and or participated in a prior Bobby Chapman Invitational. The Bobby Chapman Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship Program will award ONE scholarship, renewing annually, for four years of the college experience in the amount of $1500 per year.

The James F. Byrnes Scholarship is now available to qualifying seniors! The James F. Byrnes Scholarship program was established to help young SC students who have lost one or both parents to obtain a college education. The annual award of $3500 is applied each year toward a 4-year bachelor's degree program. If you believe you qualify for this scholarship, please apply online at

2017 South Carolina Association of Title 1 Administrators Offer Scholarship Opportunity. SCATA will award 18 scholarships for deserving students who are eligible for free or reduced priced lunch based on the current USDA criteria. The application process is quite lengthy so interested students should begin working on the application soon. The South Carolina Assoication of Counties (SCAC) Scholarship:
The SCAC is offering a one-time scholarship worth $2500 to a Pickens County senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university in SC or a two-year technical college. The student must complete an application which is on the scholarship bulletin board, write an essay and supply 2 letters of recommendation. Scholarships can also be found online at:

Upstate Association of Educational Office Professionals Scholarship:

The Burger King Scholarship:

Harry Hampton Wildlife Fund Scholarships:
The Hampton Wildlife Fund scholarships are now available. The scholarship fund offers four scholarships in memory of Harry Hampton, Wallace Pate, David Cline and James Thomason.
1. The Harry Hampton scholarship is a 4-year $5,000.00/yr. scholarship for students who wish to further their education in the natural resources such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry or marine science. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPR.
2. The Wallace Pate scholarship is a one-year $2500.00 scholarship for students who wish to pursue a degree in the natural resources discipline such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology , forestry or marine science.
3. The David Cline scholarship is a one-year $2000.00 scholarship for students who wish to pursue a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or forensic science.
4. The James Thomason scholarship is a four-year $2000.00 scholarship for students who wish to pursue a degree in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations or mass communications. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPR.

Kittie Moss Fairey Educational Fund Scholarship:
The Kittie Moss Fairey Scholarship offers scholarship aid to deserving students who meet certain academic and financial criteria. The following guidelines have been established for eligibility for this scholarship:
* Must be a high school senior
* SC resident
* Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
* Must have a combined SAT scores of 1800 or a composite ACT score of 26
* Must have a household adjusted gross income NOT exceeding $40,000.00

Financial Aid Workshop Scheduled:
Seniors and parents who are interested in learning more about the financial aid process are encouraged to attend a Financial Aid Workshop hosted by Tri-County Technical College on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 6:00 in the school media center. All seniors and parents are encouraged to attend.
Beginning October 1, 2016, parents/seniors may begin completing their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) using their 2015 income tax information. This is great news which will allow parents to begin working on their child's financial aid sooner than in the past. Remember, completing FAFSA is the most important step a parent can take to help their child receive the financial aid and scholarships they need to further their education. If you have questions, please see Mrs. Cudd in the Guidance Office.

Bridge to Clemson
The Bridge Program, in conjunction with Tri County Technical College, is a cooperative admission program designed to assist a select group of students who cannot be offered regular admission to Clemson but who wish to have a freshman year experience with the distinct Clemson flavor. Students enroll in a transferable curriculum at TCTC for the entire freshmen year and while taking these classes will have access to a number of services and programs on the Clemson campus. They are assured a seamless transition to Clemson the following year if they meet the academic expections of the program.
